September was still a hot month with a few days of rain. It seems the humidity stayed in the air longer than in previous years. As regular classes resumed, students slowly adjusted to classwork and homework. We were encouraged by the return of several students and were happy to see their progress. As the year winds down, we plan a few fun activities for students and hope to make English learning something they remember as they age.

As mentioned in prior updates, several students are currently testing our online academy, and we continue improving it before we release it to everyone.

In August, BumbleB English bid farewell to three students who moved abroad and welcomed a new adult and an elementary school student. The school paused regular group lessons for kids in August but continued with private and Summer Program lessons. Additionally, the school was pleased to welcome back a junior high student after a half-year absence.

July saw hot weather continue, with most days above 30 degrees. We started our summer program in mid-July and had several classes with both existing BumbleB English students. As we enter the summer break, many students have mentioned they would like to take the month of August off. Normally we don't hold regular lessons in August but instead hold special classes focusing on topics such as reading comprehension, presentation, phonics, etc...

In our kids' group lessons, vocabulary development was a key focus. In the future, we will incorporate spelling, as spelling becomes important for students entering junior high school. Beginner-level classes progressed well, with progress in alphabet learning and phonics. Reading comprehension, vocabulary development, and expressing opinions were emphasized in private lessons for high school students preparing to study abroad. Advanced adult students engaged in reading and discussing articles on interesting topics, while focus was given to helping a doctor prepare for presentations. 

While there was interest in group adult lessons, the school was unable to create a class due to insufficient demand. However, they have been successful in advancing their group kids lessons, focusing on reading comprehension and self-introduction using regular verbs. Visual aids and specific textbooks have aided in teaching beginning sounds to young private students. Additionally, the school accommodates private adult lessons, with one student being a restaurant owner eager to enhance his practical English skills through role-playing and vocabulary exercises. Online lessons are available to students not in the Yoga vicinity.

In March, we finalized our lesson schedule and added another beginner class on Fridays at 4pm. We still have space for elementary and junior high school students. Please contact us directly at: [email protected] for information on the availability of lessons.

February started quite cold, and the first and only snow of the season fell on the 10th. Even with the cold weather BumbleB English welcomed several new students, including two elementary school-age children of a current adult student. We also welcomed four students to a beginner class (students who will be starting elementary school in April). With entering and departing students happening during January and February, our class schedule is in flux. January was a review month for many of our classes. Review is beneficial for our students as they only attend once-a-week lessons. We reviewed previous textbook lessons, read simple passages, and focused on pronunciation. In addition, students answered questions from the Eiken English language exams.
