Monthly Update April 2023

BumbleB English School Update 2023-04

While there was interest in group adult lessons, the school was unable to create a class due to insufficient demand. However, they have been successful in advancing their group kids lessons, focusing on reading comprehension and self-introduction using regular verbs. Visual aids and specific textbooks have aided in teaching beginning sounds to young private students. Additionally, the school accommodates private adult lessons, with one student being a restaurant owner eager to enhance his practical English skills through role-playing and vocabulary exercises. Online lessons are available to students not in the Yoga vicinity.

Monthly Update March 2023

BumbleB English School Update 2023-03

In March, we finalized our lesson schedule and added another beginner class on Fridays at 4pm. We still have space for elementary and junior high school students. Please contact us directly at: [email protected] for information on the availability of lessons.

Monthly Update February 2023

BumbleB English School Update 2023-02

February started quite cold, and the first and only snow of the season fell on the 10th. Even with the cold weather BumbleB English welcomed several new students, including two elementary school-age children of a current adult student. We also welcomed four students to a beginner class (students who will be starting elementary school in April). With entering and departing students happening during January and February, our class schedule is in flux. Please contact directly at: [email protected] for information on the availability of lessons.

Monthly Update January 2023

BumbleB English School Update 2023-01

January was a review month for many of our classes. Review is beneficial for our students as they only attend once-a-week lessons. We reviewed previous textbook lessons, read simple passages, and focused on pronunciation. In addition, students answered questions from the Eiken English language exams.

Monthly Update December 2022

BumbleB English School Update 2022-12

December flew by very fast. This year we didn’t do anything special during lessons for the holidays, but we did have a “Meet Santa James” Day on December 18th. During this day, students and family members came by to see Santa James and pick out English books and stationery items as presents.

We have finalized our new pricing plan for next year and will have a yearly calendar available which should make scheduling much easier for students and parents.

Monthly Update November 2022

BumbleB English School Update 2022-11

November was a bittersweet month for BumbleB English. We have been teaching a cohort of six students since they were in 1st Grade Elementary School. These students are in 3rd-grade junior high school and preparing for their high school entrance exams. December will be their last month, and though several will move away from the area in the Spring, we hope to keep in touch and continue to see them progress academically and personally.

BumbleB English Teacher Introduction

My name is James, and I am the English instructor at BumbleB English. I started teaching English to my kindergarten-age daughter in the fall of 2012. After a few years, more students joined our lessons, and we added more classes and finally created BumbleB English. Over ten years later, I teach children from elementary school students to high schoolers. I also teach college students and professional Business English to adults.

Best Passports

Although the country has lost its ranking to competitors in many fields lately, Japan can be proud to proclaim that their citizens are No 1 in the world for being able to travel the world with the least amount of hassle. According to the latest Henley & Partner’s Passport Index Report, Japan is ranked #1 in the world, for allowing its citizens to travel to other countries without a prior visa.

They quit, Now what?

recent Time Magazine article, Bruner, R. (2021, November 8). They quit. Now what?. Time, 49-50, had several interesting examples of many young people (workers aged 20 - 34) quitting the workforce. The first individual spotlighted is seemingly living blissfully in Rome, listening to locals chat at cafes, and enjoying bowls of gelato. Her prior position, as a mental health therapist for at-risk youth, was apparently not fulfilling enough and now she dreams of being a telehealth practitioner. Another individual, aged 23, had spent five years as a hospitality worker and bartender and quit due to the work stress related to dealing with poorly mannered customers. Now she is studying and helping service workers organize for better working standards.
