BumbleB English School Update 2025-03

Monthly Update March 2025

Welcome to our school’s monthly update for March 2025. Our school offers lessons for elementary school-aged children and above. We also provide daily conversation and business English classes for adults. Customized lessons for returnee students and short-term lessons are also available. We have helped improve English skills for children moving abroad and students studying for school entrance exams or English proficiency exams such as the Eiken, TOEFL, DuoLingo, and IELTS tests. Our classes are held at our school location in Yoga Setagaya, Tokyo. Online lessons via Zoom are also available.

Our monthly blog update includes information about our group and private lessons for our children and adult students.

Please contact us to schedule a visit to our Yoga classroom in Setagaya or for an online consultation. In addition to teaching at our Yoga classroom, we teach students across Japan and the world via Zoom or Teams.

A free trial lesson, either at our Setagay classroom or online, can be scheduled from our trial lesson page:  https://bumblebenglish.com/trial-lesson/

Lessons for Children

We finished the Level 1 textbook for several beginner group classes in March. The students have shown incredible progress in speaking, reading, and writing over the year. I was very encouraged by the diligence of the students.

We have incorporated past tests from the Eiken exam for our intermediate classes to prepare students who wish to take this test. Though we are not a “test-prep” school, we understand that parents and students want to measure English progress objectively. Furthermore, the Eiken test is a good method to increase English vocabulary, which is not covered in our weekly lessons.

Additionally, for our advanced lessons, we incorporate workbooks that cover reading comprehension, writing, and grammar workbooks from the Scholastic Success series. These workbooks can be purchased from our online store: https://store.makostars.com/collections/scholastic-success-workbooks

Since many of our students will not have regular school lessons on Saturdays, we plan on introducing new classes on Saturdays. The current idea is to provide a writing lesson to help students improve their grammar for writing portions of the Eiken, TOEFL, and IELTS exams.

Because we are receiving more interest in helping pre-Elementary school students, we have begun looking into offfering lessons for this group of students. We are available for group lessons before 3 pm on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. This is in addition to our bimonthly lessons on Sunday mornings.

We also have students who take private lessons. Currently, we have kindergarten to high school students. Our younger students are focusing on phonics and pronunciation. We also provide reading material to improve foundational reading skills. An elementary school student in Vietnam is taking weekly lessons on Zoom. This student is studying for the Eiken Pre-1 exam, so we have been working on all core skills: reading, vocabulary, speaking, and listening. For our high school students, lessons focus on IELTS prep, with students expected to do homework each week.

Lessons for Adults

In March, we continued teaching two senior adult students, one student in France, and two students focusing on business English and the TOEIC exam. As mentioned last month, we welcomed a new adult student who wants to improve her English to prepare for international school interviews.

Summary

Our enrollment is ongoing, and we welcome new students throughout the year. We do our best to assign students to the appropriate class.

We encourage anyone interested in our school to contact us. Online lessons are also available for students regardless of location.

Please read our FAQ pages for detailed information about what types of students do well in our class. Unlike a typical English conversation school, our school does not focus on an “English is fun” approach to learning. We help students reach their goals, including entrance to an international school, a high score on an English test, or a job change. We want to see students use English in their lives, and our goal is to help students reach their dreams.

Our goal is to develop global citizens, students who are interested in the world around them and who can express themselves. We have been teaching English for over ten years and have many happy students; quite a few have studied with us for several years. However, not all students fit our approach. Don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

As always, please get in touch with us directly for information about our school: [email protected]
